Project Save Our Children Against Drunk
Driving Inc.
Our History. Page 2.
That was the birth of Project
Save Our Children Against Drunk Driving Inc. I
went home and discussed my idea with my wife
and she said that she would stand behind me
in any endeavor to bring these fatal vision
goggles to the public’s attention. So for
weeks we set and talked about what would be
the best way to go about realizing my idea.
I contacted a local community member at the
Berryville Community Center and asked if she
could set up a meeting with me and the local
community members.
Who attended my meeting was the mayor, chief
of police, county sheriff, school board,
city aldermen’s, director of community
center, and chamber of commerce. At that
time the program that I had developed was a
lot different that what it has grown to be.
In the beginning the program was just going
to be Fatal Vision goggles and a regular
golf cart, and it was just going to be
introduced to the school students whenever I
could get a block of time from the
Berryville High School. At that time the
program was only for Berryville. In raising
the money for the Fatal Vision goggle.
And prior to the meeting at the community
center, I had gone door-to-door and had
asked for what I called promissory
donations. Simply put, I wanted a list of
people who were willing to donate money if I
got permission to develop the program in the
city of Berryville. During the meeting I
explained to everyone the purpose of the
project, the motivation behind it, and my
desire to start a program that would deal
with impaired driving. After explaining and
giving a copy of the list of promissory
donations to all attendees.
The Mayor of Berryville asked the chief of
police to go ahead and order two sets of the
goggles that would cost approximately
$2,000.00 dollars. And then informed the
chief of police that I would pay him back
after collecting donations from the local
business community. When I left the meeting
I was very excited and I went about the very
next day in collecting all the donations
that were promised. I collected more money
than what was needed for the goggles. With
the extra money that I was able to collect,
I purchased the program Fatal Reflections.
